Abstract
Nepal is an agricultural country. The huge source of biomass from agro-forestry as wastes
is yet to be used properly. Briquette is entirely new form of alternative energy converted
from this waste biomass. Since such biomass has a difficulty in use, storage and
transportation, briquette is being suitable form of the biomass that can overcome such
problems. Also briquette is being alternative source of energy of LPG and kerosene in
village as well as town area.
The beehive briquette one of the briquettes has some challenges in manufacturing and
production in commercial level. The main problems found from study of beehive briquette
were filling in fixed die with pins, shape of briquette, use of screw die piston having
shorter life, sticking of die pins after pressing of loose biomass.
The problems will be solved by the use of improved manual beehive briquette machine
which contributes the use of movable die and increased rapid production of briquettes for
commercial use. In this machine, the pressing is more advantageous with the combine
action of hand and foot press initiated for the alignment of die with cylinder. The briquette
machine may increase the productivity and help in the promotion of alternative source of
energy that will save our environment.
